Day nurseries should offer a wide range of activities that help toddlers and children develop their social skills as well as their gross motor and physical development. A healthy dose of fun play will also be factored into their day.
For babies aged 0-2, a comfortable environment for sleeping should be provided. For toddlers aged 2-3, potty training should be offered.
What activities do we offer?
We’re proud to provide a mixture of indoor and outdoor activities. All activities are planned to be age-appropriate and to ensure your child can develop and explore various subjects and skills. We’re listing some example activities we offer for the various age ranges.
Ages 0-2:
✓ Painting
✓ Messy play
✓ Toys
Ages 2-3:
✓ Role play
✓ Construction & crafts
✓ Assisted walks
Ages 3-4:
✓ Mathematics & language skills
✓ Healthy cooking
✓ Dancing & music
We even had a hairdresser in, and the children enjoyed trying different hairstyles out on each other and the staff!
Outdoor activities
Not every nursery can offer an outdoor play area. As we’re based in the village of Maxey, just outside of Peterborough, we have our very own garden that’s surrounded by woodlands.
Children enjoy playing outside, and our dedicated garden space offers plenty of room to explore nature and let their imaginations blossom.
Outdoor activities we provide include:
✓ Mud kitchens
✓ Sand & water play
✓ Tree swings
✓ Large climbing frames
✓ See-saws
✓ Traditional games, such as “What’s the time, Mr. Wolf?” “Tag,” and various ball games
✓ We even have a nursery allotment where your children can plant fresh fruit and vegetables
✓ Walks around the village
