With the Autumn Budget 2021 providing up to £170m for childcare providers, we’re looking at how parents can access financial support for their childcare.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak has pledged an increase in early years funding by 2024-25 in the autumn budget.
Part of the Levelling Up fund, the extra childcare support is in recognition that the first 1001 days of a child’s life are the most important with regards to healthy growth and development.
The government will pay childcare providers more to improve the quality of childcare. The funding will be used for the following initiatives:
- A Start for Life offer for families
- High-quality parenting programmes
- Tailored services to help with perinatal mental health
- Create a network of Family Hubs across the country
- £150M to support training and development for childcare providers
- Investing an extra £200m in the Supporting Families programme, to help up to 300,000 more families facing multiple needs.
- £200m a year to continue the holiday activity and food programme.
