Nursery Education Grant
First Steps is registered with the DfES (Department for Education and Skills) and is able to claim the Nursery Education Grant, the term after your child is three and four years old. This entitles your child to five x 2 ½ hour sessions free for a period of thirteen weeks per education term (38 weeks per school year.) Parents can choose to take fewer than the five sessions to meet their own individual requirements, or share the grant with another childcare provider.
Prior to your child becoming eligible, First Steps will inform parents of the reduction in their fees due. You will be asked to complete a parent/carer declaration and provide evidence of your child's identity, date of birth and address.
Working Tax Credit
Parents may be eligible to claim for Tax Credit which may meet up to 75% of their child's cost. For further information about claiming WTC, parents should call the Tax Credit helpline on 0845 300 3900. The line is open 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday.
